Dreamwidth's feature to choose icons for individual icons and posts is lovely. Just uploaded a bunch of Komaeda crops from manga panels; it's fun matching those to the mood of the text.

Right!? It's the best! I usually reserve my icons for my personal posts--because I made them to be, well, personal--but I also like the image embeds for signing with my sprites, since I don't have the money to shell out for premium to get that sweet, sweet roster of 150 icons.
